Charity Honors Late Patchogue Teacher with Charity Providing School Supplies to Local Children

The Rachel Quinn Children’s Foundation’s inaugural event will raise money to provide supplies for underprivileged children in the Long Island area and allow the community to get to know the organization’s founders.

Patchogue, NY, June 14th, 2022 – Long Island-based charity Rachel Quinn Children’s Foundation is inviting the public and local businesses to help kick off their inaugural year providing school supplies to local children in need at this spring’s Rachel Quinn Children’s Foundation Cocktail Benefit and silent auction.

In the group’s first year they will provide over one hundred backpacks with school supplies to children in Long Island and surrounding areas, to be made possible through donations and fundraising efforts. Their inaugural event, the Rachel Quinn Children’s Foundation Cocktail Benefit, will be held on June 14tH at The Better Man Distilling Co. in Patchogue, NY. Tickets and sponsorship information can be found at https://RQCFbenefit2022.givesmart.com.

The Rachel Quinn Children’s Foundation was started earlier this year by family and friends of the late Hauppauge school teacher Rachel Quinn, who passed away suddenly in 2021 along with her unborn child. The mission of the organization is to continue furthering her passion for providing children with kindness and a positive learning environment.

“Rachel was known for her kindness and willingness to help others, so this foundation is an extension of everything she stood for,” said Nathan Quinn, husband to the late Rachel Quinn and foundation president. “Losing her and our child so suddenly was devastating beyond words. But through this organization I can keep her dream alive along with help from the community that she had so much impact on.”

For more information, tickets to the Benefit, or to donate online, please visit the RQCF website. The Cocktail Benefit’s silent auction will also be hosted online simultaneously for those who cannot attend in person. Information regarding other methods of assisting RQCF, such as providing silent auction item donations or event sponsorship, can be found at www.RQCFoundation.org/our-team.

About Rachel Quinn Children’s Foundation:
The Rachel Quinn Children’s Foundation was created by Nathan Quinn, in 2021, after the passing of his wife, Rachel Quinn. Rachel was a Hauppauge elementary school teacher and believed a good teacher could create a lasting and positive impact in a child’s life. Nathan was inspired by her kindness and wanted to find a way for her to still help children. Thus, the Rachel Quinn Children’s Foundation was born.

The Foundation helps underprivileged children of Long Island with school supplies and educational resources. The organization’s wish is to promote the values that Rachel inspired by giving out awards to students that embody the kindness and empathy Rachel taught in her classrooms.

Sponsorship

Dear Future Sponsor,

Do you remember shopping for a new book bag and school supplies at the end of the summer vacation? Knowing your break was ending was a drag, but somehow the smell of freshly sharpened pencils and lining up your highlighters made it all a bit more exciting. The idea of going back was a bit more fun when you had new things to play with.

The Rachel Quinn Children’s Foundation is a new charity built to set up the children of Long Island for success in school. We start by supplying students in need with backpacks and the supplies to kick their year off right! By providing quality products that match those of their classmates we empower kids to be enthusiastic about their new year and ready to absorb what their class has in store. When the social burden of fitting in and showing up prepared is lifted off their shoulders their minds are open to the school experience, and they just might have more fun, too!

Our namesake, my late wife, Rachel Quinn, was an elementary school teacher in the Hauppauge school district. The same district she attended as a child, before pursuing a teaching career and obtaining her masters degree. Rachel dedicated her life to teaching kids and instilling the value of kindness in all her students. She was known to gauge her classes success, not just in test scores, but in the compassion and empathy they showed to one another and their community.

At the end of the 2021 school year, Rachel left her class to begin her maternity leave when a hidden health condition took her from us. Her family, her friends and I recognized our own deep loss and the loss of a wonderful educator, whose career ambition was to improve the lives of children. To preserve her legacy, we created The Rachel Quinn Children’s Foundation.

RQCF is supporting students facing challenges in our local Suffolk County community. As of 2021 Suffolk County K-12 public schools has 228,757* students enrolled and 43%* of those students are considered economically disadvantaged. That’s over 90,000 students that could have their education benefit from a little extra support. This upcoming school year we plan to hand out over 100 backpacks packed with grade appropriate school supplies; and sponsor as many creative and athletic programs as we can.

To introduce Rachel Quinn Children’s Foundation and raise the funds to accomplish our goals for 2022, we are organizing a cocktail benefit event this June. We are looking for partners and supporters to help bring this event together. We have many opportunities to boost our efforts, from donating items for our silent auctions to sponsoring elements of the events.
